The xTool X1 has been in our workshop since September 2026 with its 55W CO₂, 20W diode, and 60W MOPA sources installed, and we have spent the weeks since then testing it. xTool sent this early X1 unit for review. xTool has no review or approval of our testing, results, or verdict. After a month, easier setup is what stands out: autofocus and bed leveling leave more attention for the project. xTool’s X1 launch page is now live, with five published launch configurations from $3,399. Our projects and first impressions follow; controlled performance testing is not complete.
01 / Our experience
The X1 handles complicated projects with ease
We made a miniature of our home, down to the shutters, window frames and tiny porch lamps. It was one of our first X1 projects.
Our build and photograph. A separate UV printer added the color.
- We made our own homeIn miniature, with the little details that make it ours.
- 62 partsOne of our first cutting projects started with this 62-piece basswood layout.
- Easier setupAutofocus and bed leveling gave us more time to be creative.
What we think so far
We spend more time on the project. That is our impression after a month of making. We have also cut parts for a birthday train, a cottage and holiday ornaments. MOPA trials continue; we have not measured time savings or cutting accuracy.02 / What xTool is launching
How the X1 combines cutting and engraving
xTool describes Hybrid Motion as galvo beam steering combined with a gantry workspace. The 55W CO₂ head handles its own processing path; the diode and optional external sources use the galvo path. LaserSwap adds source packs at the back of the machine. Its Automated Creation System combines three cameras with AutoLift bed-height adjustment. Those are xTool’s engineering descriptions; our easier-setup impressions come from making projects.
The 20W Diode Galvo Module is required before adding a Fiber, UV or MOPA source. xTool’s four-axis description refers to gantry motion and galvo mirrors; it does not establish a conventional independent four-axis rotary system. Five supported source types do not mean five sources firing at once.
We have not measured positioning accuracy or compared processing speed under controlled conditions.
UV laser marking does not apply UV ink. A separate UV printer added the color to our house.

Questions before ordering
When can I complete an X1 order?
xTool schedules final payment for October 28 at 9 p.m. EDT / 6 p.m. PDT. At our 8:40 p.m. EDT check, the published deposit deadline had passed, but the public page still displayed deposit wording. Shipping is scheduled to start October 29, with priority based on order completion. Published prices and the scheduled opening do not confirm live ordering, stock or dispatch for every configuration.
Is this a completed X1 review?
No. This is an ongoing first look, with our installed-unit details and review disclosure above. The photographs and build observations are ours. MOPA trials continue, and we have not published controlled speed, cutting-accuracy, reliability or return-on-investment results.
Does X1’s UV laser print color?
No. A UV laser source marks material; it does not apply UV ink. The X1 cut our miniature house parts. A separate UV printer supplied the color. Our O1 Omni coverage concerns a different process, and this house is not evidence of O1 output.
Does catsman50 stack with launch pricing?
We have not verified X1 applicability, sale-price compatibility or stacking with other codes. The owner-supplied offer is $50 off an xTool machine through December 31, 2026. Confirm the selected configuration, regional terms and final savings before payment.

When a source-backed change affects what to buy, update, test, or ignore, we send a short decision brief with the evidence, the workshop consequence, and what remains unknown.
Know what changed. Know what it means at the bench. Decide whether to act, wait, update, test, or ignore.
