I use the P2, so the P3's 80W laser, larger bed, and automatic setup immediately caught my attention. I went through the prices and specifications with a simpler question: which jobs would I be able to do better?
The xTool P3 starts at $6,999. I would consider it if material no longer fits a P2 or P2S, repeat batches need too many setups, or 55W is turning away work. I have not tested the P3. It uses xTool Studio, and adding the optional conveyor changes its documented safety state from Class 1 to Class 4.
Depending on the bundle, you may also need the CO2 gas cylinder, RA3 rotary, 5W IR module, conveyor, and honeycomb.
Before the specifications
I would start with the job. Maybe a sign will not fit, a batch takes two setups, or 55W is slowing a repeat order. Once that problem has a time or dollar attached to it, the extra cost can be judged against something real. If I could not name the job, I would keep the machine I already had.

On my P2, the cut itself is only part of the job. I still have to place the blank, check the preview, set the height, and handle the finished piece. Those are the moments I would watch to find out whether the P3 actually saves time.
Once I could name the job
I checked xTool's U.S. store feed on July 30, 2026. It listed the three prices below. xTool was also advertising a Summer Maker Party promotion, so check the live cart, confirm that the promotion applies, and make sure the accessories you expect are actually included.

The P3 adds 25W of CO2 power, more bed space, and more setup automation. That is what the extra money buys on paper. I have not measured how much of it survives the trip from loading a blank to taking a finished part out of the machine.

Before delivery day
At 231.5 pounds, this is not a laser I would slide out when I need it. The bench, software, exhaust, electrical supply, and safety setup all need to be settled before it arrives.
xTool says the P3 does not support LightBurn, XCS mobile, or iPad control.
The enclosed standalone machine is Class 1. Attaching the optional conveyor changes operation to Class 4.
The suppression module is built in, but xTool says the gas cylinder needed for it is sold separately.
RA3, the 5W IR module, conveyor, and honeycomb are separate unless the selected bundle explicitly includes them.
The published 49.2 x 30.7 x 19.5 inch footprint and freight weight make this a fixed shop installation.
The IF2 2.0 inline fan is included, but filtration is not. Official documents conflict on maximum power consumption.
The 5W IR module costs extra
xTool positions it for direct marking on selected metals and plastics. Before adding it to a bundle, I would list the materials I actually use and check whether the CO2 laser already handles the work.

I found conflicting speed labels, maximum power figures, and spot-size values in xTool's own documents. Until those agree, I am not going to pick whichever number makes the P3 look better.
Where I landed
I know how quickly a bed can feel small and how much setup can take back from a fast cut. I also know that none of that proves the P3 saves enough time to earn its price. That still needs the same files, materials, and fixtures on both machines.
Take the extra installed cost and divide it by the contribution margin from the additional work. That gives you the number of extra orders needed to earn the upgrade back. Use your own cutting, setup, and handling times for that math; xTool's maximum speed is not measured finished-job output.
My take
I would need to point to jobs that the larger bed, 80W power, AutoLift, cameras, or batch size would improve, and xTool Studio would have to fit the shop. If the P2S already handles the work at the quality and margin I need, I would keep the lower starting price.

No. xTool says the P3 runs through xTool Studio on a supported PC. It does not support LightBurn, XCS mobile, or the iPad version. If your shop depends on LightBurn, that may rule out the P3 by itself.

Start by measuring where the P2 or P2S is costing time or turning away work. Then compare that problem with the P3's extra power, bed area, setup tools, batch size, higher installed cost, and larger footprint. If the current machine still hits the quality, speed, and margin you need, I would keep it.
