Editorial policy

The Crafty Catsman connects real workshop projects with the tools and decisions behind them. This policy explains the distinction between personal experience, supplied equipment, manufacturer information and calculations, so you can judge what a page actually establishes before using its advice or following a product link.

Projects and personal experience

The Crafty Catsman is the maker behind this site. An original build, an adaptation of someone else’s plans and a reader-submitted project have different origins. The standard for project coverage is to identify that origin, credit the source when a project is adapted, and explain what was actually built or changed. Photographs and measurements describe the project shown; they do not establish that the same result will fit every workshop or home.

Owned tools, supplied units and planned tests

Buying a machine, receiving one for review and researching it are different things. A review should identify how the equipment was obtained and the experience behind its conclusions. A supplied unit is not evidence of a favorable result. An inbound unit, demonstration or published test plan is not a completed hands-on test.

Look for the conditions of a test: the material, settings, accessories, software and length of use. A manufacturer’s specification and an owner’s observation may answer different questions. Where testing is still to come, the coverage should say so.

Sources, dates and uncertainty

Product coverage uses manufacturer documentation, official announcements and other identified sources alongside workshop experience. A published specification, launch demonstration or creator report should be attributed to its source. Conflicting or missing information should remain an open question until there is evidence to resolve it.

Prices, bundles, availability and shipping estimates can change. Check the date and the linked seller’s current terms before making a purchase. Older news records what was known at that time; it should not be read as a current stock or delivery promise. An absence of reported problems does not prove reliability.

Calculators and illustrations

Calculator results depend on the inputs and assumptions shown. Example values are starting points, not measured costs for your business or a guarantee of earnings. Include the costs a tool leaves out before using its result. Generated illustrations can explain a concept, but are not photographs of a completed build or proof of a product’s performance.

Affiliate links and other relationships

Some links may earn the site a commission from a qualifying purchase. As an Amazon Associate, The Crafty Catsman earns from qualifying purchases. Affiliate links, supplied products and paid placements should be disclosed where they appear. A commission or supplied unit does not substitute for evidence supporting a recommendation.

Read the page’s relationship disclosure and the linked store’s terms. Our privacy policy explains website data use and outside services.
