LightBurn’s released MillMage 0.9 also adds 3D model import that creates grayscale depth maps. Core gains Centerline Trace and MultiPage. The company lists a 30-day trial for new users.

Why it matters

We have not tested these toolpaths, controller compatibility or material savings. This is MillMage CNC software; the post’s future plans for LightBurn are not released LightBurn features. Use the trial with your own file, cutter, stock and machine profile before paying for a CAM change.

What to confirm for your own project+

For a relief job, examine the imported depth map and roughing and finishing paths together. Treat the preview as a planning aid until a sample establishes the result on your own material.

Who should investigate this next: The upgrade is relevant when carving or contour nesting solves a recurring CNC task. A shop content with its existing toolpaths has less reason to change software immediately.

What remains open:
  • Does the generated toolpath meet your machine limits and finish requirements?
  • Does contour nesting save useful stock on your actual parts?

Wait if:A new feature list alone does not establish controller compatibility or a better finished part.

Investigate further when:Compare toolpaths and a controlled sample with the workflow you already trust.
