Metal cutting, welding and CO₂ work

Gweike M3 Pro vs Ultra: cutting, welding and workshop setup

M3 combines a CNC metal cutter, handheld welding and cleaning, and a CO₂ laser for nonmetals. That is an appealing mix if your projects use those processes regularly. For a shop mainly cutting wood or acrylic, it is a lot of equipment to buy and accommodate.

Both models have 1,200W fiber. Ultra adds a larger bed and stronger CO₂ laser.

Gweike M3 combines CNC metal cutting, handheld welding, cleaning and cutting, plus CO₂ cutting and engraving. Current US Pro and Ultra models both list 1,200W fiber; Ultra adds a larger bed and 130W CO₂ instead of 80W. We have not tested M3. This guide compares Gweike’s specifications, software information and setup requirements.

What “six-in-one” includes

Cut and weld metal, with CO₂ for wood and acrylic.

M3 uses its fiber laser to cut, weld and clean metal. Its CO₂ laser cuts and engraves suitable nonmetals. Gweike calls this six-in-one because it counts CNC and handheld metal cutting separately, along with welding, cleaning, CO₂ cutting and CO₂ engraving. Moving between those jobs means changing heads and settings.

Fiber laser

CNC metal cutting

Cuts metal on the bed by following a programmed design.

What to check in a demonstration

For repeated parts, have Gweike cut your file from the metal and thickness you use so you can inspect the edges.

Fiber laser

Handheld welding

Uses a handheld welding tool to join metal parts.

What to check in a demonstration

Check whether the package includes the handpiece, wire feeder and equipment needed for the welds you plan to make.

Fiber laser

Laser cleaning

Uses a handheld laser head to remove material from a surface.

What to check in a demonstration

Confirm which cleaning head is included and whether it is suitable for the surface you need to clean.

Fiber laser

Handheld cutting

Lets the operator guide the cut by hand.

What to check in a demonstration

Unlike CNC cutting on the bed, the operator controls the path. Do not expect the same repeatability.

CO₂ laser

CO₂ cutting

Cuts suitable nonmetal sheet materials with the CO₂ laser.

What to check in a demonstration

Switching to it requires the appropriate head, focus and material settings.

CO₂ laser

CO₂ engraving

Engraves suitable nonmetals with the same CO₂ laser used for cutting.

What to check in a demonstration

Gweike counts cutting and engraving separately in the six-in-one description.

We have not tested the cuts, welds or changeover time. If you expect to switch processes several times a day, a demonstration of the full changeover would tell you more than a cutting-speed specification.

M3 Pro versus M3 Ultra

Ultra has a larger bed and a stronger CO₂ laser.

Both models keep the same fiber power. The choice is how much room your work needs and how often you use the CO₂ laser.

  1. Pro keeps the workstation smaller.

Pro combines 1,200W fiber with 80W CO₂ and a 620 × 620 mm bed. Start here if your parts fit that area; a larger workstation still needs space, extraction and delivery access.

  2. Ultra gives the work more room.

Ultra keeps 1,200W fiber and increases CO₂ to 130W. Its 1,380 × 920 mm bed has about 3.3 times Pro’s listed area. That can accommodate larger parts or more pieces; it does not establish 3.3 times the job speed.

Both are listed as Class 4, and Gweike calls for forklift unloading. Exact US electrical requirements remain unconfirmed because the documentation conflicts. Confirm gas, power, extraction and the supplied software before choosing a package. There is no announced timetable for M3 LightBurn support.

Ultra has 3.3× the listed bed area: 1,380 × 920mm versus Pro’s 620 × 620mm. It gives larger parts or more pieces room on the bed; it does not make the machine 3.3 times faster. We would pay for Ultra when the work needs that space or the stronger CO₂ laser. Both models have the same fiber power.

M2, M3, handheld listings and upgrade limits

M2 has fiber; M3 adds CO₂.

The industrial catalog includes other M2 and M3 combinations. If you have seen different bed sizes or power options elsewhere, check which market and model that listing describes. This comparison covers the current US Pro and Ultra workstations.

The cheaper M800 and M1200 listings are handheld welders.

They appear in the same US product selector, but they do not include a complete M3 CNC workstation. Gweike also promotes upgrades; we could not establish a separately orderable retrofit kit or its full price, so we would not budget around a later upgrade without a written quote.

Software compatibility

Gweike confirmed Mlaser’s operating system and said LightBurn discussions are continuing. No compatibility release or date was announced.

Software support, the staff explanation and demonstration questions

Gweike confirmed on October 21 that Mlaser runs on Windows. It said discussions with LightBurn were continuing after a meeting that month, but did not announce compatible software or a release date. LightBurn’s September 14 staff update also gave no timetable. Plan around Mlaser on Windows, not future LightBurn support.

In that September 14 update, LightBurn staff explained that controlling high-power fiber, CO₂ and assist gas is more involved than supporting a conventional CO₂ machine. Support may change, but there is no announced timetable to base a purchase on.

Plan to evaluate the software supplied with M3. A useful demonstration would take one of your files from import to a finished job and show the changes needed to use another process. Confirm the Mlaser build and license on the Windows computer you plan to use. Gweike’s smaller G3 has its own LightBurn documentation; that does not cover M3. Our LightBurn guide explains model and controller compatibility.

When we would consider M3, MCore or a smaller engraver

Our buying view: We would consider M3 for a shop that regularly cuts and welds metal as well as working with wood or acrylic. For mainly wood or acrylic, compare conventional CO₂ cutters first. For thin-sheet metal and nonmetals without the same welding setup, read the MCore guide. For engraving tags or personalizing metal, compare G3 and OMTech fiber engravers.

If you plan to sell what you make, estimate the cost of running each job after pricing the installation. Then use the project profit calculator to see what your selling price leaves for labor and margin.

Warranty coverage and the older public policy

Gweike confirmed on October 22 that G2, G3 and M3 have one year of laser-source coverage and two years for the machine. Its October 21 conditions require normal use, no unauthorized disassembly, modification or misuse, and proof of purchase.

For a covered issue, Gweike says it may provide replacement parts or repair, or arrange a return and refund or an exchange. The reply does not establish which remedy applies to every case or who pays all freight costs.

The general warranty page still contains older one-year terms. Get the machine and laser-source coverage, exclusions and repair freight confirmed on your order. See the warranty policy and return and refund policy.

US prices and delivery estimates

M3 Pro $11,499 · M3 Ultra $13,999 · checked October 19, 2026.

In its October 21 reply, Gweike estimated 7–15 working days for M3 Pro and Ultra delivery to the US. This is a manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed date for an individual order.

On October 22, Gweike said new M3 Pro stock was expected in late October 2026 and described a 7–15-day shipping timeframe. It did not specify calendar or working days, dispatch or delivery, or whether the stock wait is included. This Pro-only update does not confirm stock arrival or a delivery date for your order. Get a written dispatch date and included-equipment list for your order.

What the October 19 storefront showed

The US page showed “Sold out” and said the next M3 Pro batch was expected in late October. Gweike’s product data nevertheless marked both Pro and Ultra available. We could not resolve that stock discrepancy or confirm a shipping date. The later estimates do not independently verify warehouse stock.

Gweike M3 questions

Does six-in-one mean six lasers?

No. M3 uses fiber and CO₂ lasers. Gweike counts CNC metal cutting, handheld welding, cleaning and cutting, plus CO₂ cutting and engraving as six processes. Changing heads and settings is part of using them; we have not measured how long those changes take.

How are M2, M3 and M800/M1200 different?

M2 is fiber-only; M3 adds CO₂. The US page lists M3 Pro and Ultra alongside standalone M800 and M1200 handheld welders. Those cheaper welder options do not include a complete M3 CNC workstation. The industrial catalog also shows configurations beyond the current US retail models.

Does Gweike M3 work with LightBurn?

Gweike confirmed Mlaser on Windows in its October 21, 2026 reply. It described ongoing LightBurn discussions, not a compatibility release or date. LightBurn’s September 14 staff update also gave no timetable. Evaluate Mlaser before buying; the G3 LightBurn manual does not cover M3.

How long does US delivery of M3 take?

In its October 21 reply, Gweike estimated 7–15 working days for M3 Pro and Ultra delivery to the US. This is a manufacturer estimate, not a guaranteed date for an individual order. On October 22, Gweike said new M3 Pro stock was expected in late October 2026 and described a 7–15-day shipping timeframe. It did not specify calendar or working days, dispatch or delivery, or whether the stock wait is included. This Pro-only update does not confirm stock arrival or a delivery date for your order. Get a written dispatch and arrival estimate for the model you order.

Does the machine price cover a complete workshop?

Do not assume it does. Get an itemized equipment list, then price the required air or gas supply, extraction, electrical work, software, consumables and freight unloading. The checklist in this guide helps you request those costs; installation must follow the manufacturer’s documents and qualified local advice.

How we researched this guide

We compared Gweike’s US listings and industrial catalog, then checked LightBurn’s staff update on software support. Gweike’s October 21, 2026 reply supplied a US Pro/Ultra delivery estimate, Windows confirmation, package guidance and warranty terms. Its October 22 reply clarified the M3 Pro stock and shipping estimate, restated the M3 warranty and supplied a family-level packing list. Our October 23 manual review found conflicting electrical requirements whose applicability to current US Pro and Ultra models remains unconfirmed. The listed prices remain dated October 19. We have not operated an M3 or measured its cutting, welding or engraving results. The cost of a complete installation also remains unconfirmed. Our editorial policy explains how researched guides differ from hands-on reviews.
