Formlabs Form Studio 1 Opens Orders From $699; Delivery Quotes Depend on the Setup
Form Studio 1 starts at $699 in the US, but that setup is quoted for Jan. 13; the $749 default is quoted for Nov. 20, and add-ons can move an order to January.
Formlabs opened worldwide orders for the Form Studio 1 resin printer on October 14, starting at $699 in the US. That price buys the Graphite printer with the Standard build platform, which Formlabs’ US store quoted for January 13 delivery on October 20. The default $749 setup with the Flex platform was quoted for November 20, a week earlier than its October 19 quote. Formlabs says shipping begins globally November 16. Its speed and reliability figures are Formlabs’ claims, and the site has not verified independent results.
A $699 starting price, with delivery set by the setup you choose
The $699 Base pairs the Graphite printer with the Standard build platform. The Flex quick-release platform adds $50.
On October 20, Formlabs’ US store quoted the $749 Flex setup for Nov. 20 and the $699 Standard setup for Jan. 13, a day after quoting Nov. 27 and Jan. 12.
Formlabs’ 98% and 99% figures come from Form 4, its product page also shows 92%, and its pages state them differently.

The $699 price covers less than the default setup, and add-ons change the delivery date
Formlabs’ October 14 release opens worldwide orders for Form Studio 1, a masked-SLA resin printer, starting at $699 with shipping beginning globally on November 16, 2026. On Formlabs’ US store, $699 buys the Graphite printer with the Standard build platform, which is only available with Graphite; the default Base setup with the Flex quick-release platform is $749. The limited Aqua, Violet and Teal colours require the Flex platform, so they also start at $749. The Founder’s Edition is a limited launch run in Graphite or those three colours through November 30 or while supplies last.
Delivery depends on the setup, and the quotes move. As of October 20, 2026, Formlabs’ US store quoted November 20 for the $749 Flex setup, January 13 for the $699 Standard setup, November 30 for Aqua and December 7 for Violet and Teal. It ships every item in an order together, so adding the $199 Form Studio Wash+Cure moved the quote to December 21 and the $179 VOC Extractor moved it to January 20. A day earlier, the same store had quoted November 27, January 12, December 4 to 18, December 18 and January 19. Prices exclude sales tax, and the dates are Formlabs’ estimates. The Crafty Catsman does not own a Form Studio 1, and the site has not verified independent results.
Budget the resin station, not just the printer
Formlabs lists a 20.0 × 12.5 × 23.5 cm build volume, 35 μm pixels and 28 LEDs, and says most jobs print in under two hours. The printer works only with Formlabs’ PreForm software: PreForm 3.64.0 added Form Studio 1 support on October 14, and 3.64.1 fixed an Alpha Model Resin crash on October 15. Formlabs resins dispense automatically from cartridges, while third-party 405 nm resins run in Open Material Mode with manual pouring and the $79 Resin Tank Pro, which Formlabs’ store lists as required for Tough 1500 Resin V2 and third-party materials.
Two vendor statements to read carefully: Formlabs’ reliability numbers are borrowed from Form 4. The release’s 98% figure is footnoted to Form 4’s third-party 98.7% result, with Form Studio 1 testing in progress, while the product page shows 99% and says Form Studio 1 is expected to match the 99% reliability of Form 4, beside a table that lists Form 4 at 98.7%. The same page’s reliability section shows a 92% print-success figure, and Formlabs’ FAQ says internal testing showed print success comparable to Form 4. Formlabs also says Form Studio 1 can be used without dedicated containment or ventilation equipment, but it ties its UL GREENGUARD Gold certification to use with Alpha Resins and the separately sold $179 VOC Extractor.
- How will Form Studio 1 perform in independent print-quality and reliability testing once Formlabs finishes its own?
- Will the store’s delivery quotes hold as the November 16 shipping start approaches?
- How long will Founders Edition stock and the limited colours last before November 30?
Wait or compare if:You need a resin printer working before January with the $699 setup, rely on third-party slicers, or want independent reliability results before buying.
Shortlist it if:You want Formlabs’ cartridge workflow at a lower entry price and have priced post-processing, resin, tanks and the delivery date for the exact setup.
